Community Woodlands Award

Now open for entry!

Following on from the success of last year's competition which focused exclusively on central Scotland, we have decided to do the same again in 2012!

So, once again, Scotland's Finest Woods is doing its bit to promote the Central Scotland Green Network so this year's prestigious Community Woodlands Award and Tim Stead Trophy will be awarded to the best community or urban woodland project or other social forestry project which engages people with their environment in Central Scotland.

The Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) is a long-term government initiative to deliver a step change in environmental quality, woodland cover and recreational opportunities across Central Scotland so making it a more attractive place to live and do business in, to visit, to absorb CO2 and to enhance biodiversity and promote active travel and healthier lifestyles.

Find out more about the Central Scotland Green Network here.

All over Central Scotland people are working to support their local communities through a social woodland project, our judges want to recognise and reward their achievement!

Who can enter?
Entry is open to community, urban or social projects from the Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) Activity Area which stretches from Ayrshire and Inverclyde in the west to Fife and the Lothians in the east - see map.

Prizes
There is £3,000 in cash prizes available.

This shall be awarded by way of £2,000 for the winning project and a £1,000 for the runner-up prize or otherwise at the discretion of the judges.

In addition the stunning Tim Stead Trophy will be awarded at the discretion of the judges with custody for one year. Both also receive a certificate and a wooden display plaque to record their achievement.

The winning projects will be presented with their prizes on Friday, 22nd June 2012 at the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston.  An additional presentation can be made on the project site so that all those involved can join the celebrations.

How to enter
Simply complete a short entry form with basic project and contact details and state in no more than 500 words why you think your project would make a worthy winner of this prestigious award.

Please provide any supporting information such as a project plan, map, publicity leaflets, photographs or videos that will help our judges make their decision.

The deadline for entries is 31st March 2012.
